A positive look at drones

     Drones are a new and important way for humans to interact with life, and there are three positive uses to this new technology. One positive use is for recording, environmental and scientific study. By using these small discreet cameras, scientists can monitor and observe animals that would be more difficult to observe in person. A drone can be used to observe predatory birds nesting habits with minimal intrusion. Another can view a pod of whales with out changing their behavioural patterns. With this knowledge,scientists can learn animal habits of birds that were previously difficult to study thoroughly, as well as behaviour patterns in whales. Using this inexpensive equipment could also be a financial saviour for underfunded studies. Another fantastic use for drones is the numerous benefits to filmakers, photographers and amateur videography. A drone gives filmakers the ability to capture footage that gives the feel of a big box movie.Photographers can take amazing aerial photos that can rival art. Imagine, being able to fly after a speeding car, fall off Niagra falls, or photograph the Taj mahal from two hundred feet up! Drones put these perspectives into the hands of anyone willing to try them, enabling the world to be viewed in new ways. Most importantly, though, is the potential uses for industry and in human safety. Search and rescue are applying this technology with thermal cameras to locate lost hikers, and farmers are using it to measure and study productivity in their fields. Fire-fighters are now using drones to study and understand a fire, before sending in men to battle it. These  applications can save lives and increase safety, as well as aiding scientific research. Only a few uses were presented here, but this is only scratching the surface of what these machines can do to aid humanity. By encouraging use and development, we can further enhance this technology.
